{"id":2390,"date":"2024-08-17T00:28:29","date_gmt":"2024-08-16T18:58:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expertvakil.com\/indian-kanoon\/?p=2390"},"modified":"2026-09-13T15:21:40","modified_gmt":"2026-09-13T09:51:40","slug":"bns-section-55","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expertvakil.com\/indian-kanoon\/bharatiya-nyaya-sanhita-bns\/bns-section-55\/","title":{"rendered":"BNS Section 55"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 id=\"h-bns-section-55-abetment-of-offence-punishable-with-death-or-imprisonment-for-life\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">BNS Section 55 &#8211; Abetment of offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life.<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"secp90420\">Whoever abets the commission of an offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life, shall, if that offence be not committed in consequence of the abetment, and no express provision is made under this Sanhita for the punishment of such abetment, be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine; and if any act for which the abettor is liable in consequence of the abetment, and which causes hurt to any person, is done, the abettor shall be liable to imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to fourteen years, and shall also be liable to fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Illustration<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A instigates B to murder Z. The offence is not committed. If B had murdered Z, he would have been subject to the punishment of death or imprisonment for life.
